Getting Social for a Good Cause at the Idaho Food Bank

At Get Social With Cait, we spend a lot of our days helping local businesses show up, connect, and tell their stories online. But sometimes, showing up looks a little different. Sometimes it looks like canned food, cardboard boxes, a whole lot of teamwork, and a really good reason to roll up our sleeves.

Recently, our team had the chance to volunteer with the Idaho Food Bank, and it was such a great experience from start to finish.

We packed three large pallets of canned food into boxes that will be shipped out to food bank branches across Idaho. By the end of the shift, everyone there helped pack 13,000 pounds of food. Yes, 13,000. We got our steps in, our arm workout in, and our community service in all at once.

What We Did at the Idaho Food Bank

It was one of those days that reminded us how much can happen when people come together for a good cause. Box by box, can by can, the whole room was working toward something bigger than themselves, and that is a pretty special thing to be part of.

Our team helped sort, pack, label, and stack boxes of canned food so they could be shipped out to food bank branches across Idaho. It was simple work, but important work, and it took everyone moving together to get it done.

For our team, it was also a chance to spend time together outside of our usual content calendars, client meetings, and caption writing. We love what we do, but we also love being able to give back to the community that continues to support us and so many of the businesses we work with.

Why It Mattered to Us

The Idaho Food Bank does incredible work helping fight hunger across the state, and being able to support that mission in person meant a lot to our team.

By the end of the shift, 13,000 pounds of food had been packed by everyone there. Knowing those boxes would go on to support families and individuals across Idaho made the experience even more meaningful. We left with full hearts, tired arms, and a big reminder that getting social is not just about what happens online. It is about showing up in real life, too.

How You Can Get Involved

One of the best parts of volunteering is realizing that making a difference does not have to be complicated. Sometimes it is as simple as giving a few hours, bringing your team together, or finding one local organization you care about and asking how you can help.

You can get involved by volunteering with your local food bank, organizing a group service day, donating non-perishable food items, or helping spread awareness about food insecurity in your community.

Every little bit adds up, and we are grateful we had the opportunity to be a small part of something making a big impact. A huge thank you to the Idaho Food Bank for having us. We are so thankful for the chance to give back, work together, and support such an incredible organization in our community.
