Summer 2025 Edits Updates

Summer 2025 is serving up major upgrades in the Edits app, and they’re all about making your content flow smoother, faster, and with way more style. Let's dive into these new features:

ree

Clip Preview

With Clip Preview, you can watch your recording in real time while you’re capturing it from the camera. That means you’ll catch awkward angles, shaky hands, or framing issues before they ruin your Reel.

TIP: Use Clip Preview to check your background and lighting before you hit save.

ree

Chaining in Reels

Scrolling just got smarter. With Chaining, you can now swipe vertically between saved Reels, collections, and audio without jumping back and forth through menus.

TIP: When you’re stuck for content ideas, open your saved Reels and swipe through with Chaining. You’ll move faster through your inspiration and spark fresh ideas without losing momentum.

ree

Import Audio from Files

With Import Audio from Files, you can upload your own sounds directly into Edits. Whether that’s a voiceover recorded on your phone, a jingle you had made, or background music that perfectly matches your brand vibe.

ree

Cut Silences

The new Cut Silences tool automatically detects and trims out dead air in your Reels, so your video flows smoothly without you having to manually edit every pause.

TIP: Use Cut Silences after filming talking-head style Reels. It’ll tighten up your delivery and give your video that clean, fast-paced feel.

ree

Extend Track Duration

Your audio doesn’t have to end when your clip does. With Extend Track Duration, you can stretch voiceovers or music beyond the length of your main video clip, giving you more flexibility to layer sound exactly how you want it.

ree

Save Draft on IG

With Save Draft on Instagram, you can now store your Edits drafts directly in Instagram including captions, audio, and all the little details.

TIP: Use Save Draft when you’re experimenting with multiple versions of a Reel. Save each variation, then come back later with fresh eyes to pick the one that fits your strategy best.

ree

150 New Fonts

Your text just got a major glow-up. Instagram dropped nearly 150 new fonts you can use to style your videos, giving you endless ways to match your captions, hooks, and overlays to your brand or mood.

TIP: Choose 2-3 fonts that align with your brand personality and stick with them consistently.

ree

Increase Volume Up To 150%

With the new volume boost option, you can now increase audio levels up to 150% inside Edits. No more quiet clips getting lost in the scroll, your sound stands out loud and clear, whether it’s a voiceover, trending audio, or background music.

TIP: Use the 150% volume boost to make dialogue pop over background tracks without re-editing in another app.

ree

Stickies on Teleprompter

With Stickies on the Teleprompter, you can pin key notes or reminders directly on your screen while filming. No more losing your place or forgetting the must-say points—you’ll stay on track without breaking flow.

TIP: Use Stickies to highlight CTAs or tricky lines so you never miss them while recording.

ree

Share Drafts on DM's

With Share Drafts in DMs, you can send your unfinished Reels directly to others for feedback before posting. No more guessing if your edit works. Get quick input from a teammate, friend, or client without leaving the app.

ree

Convert Clips to Overlays

With Convert Clips to Overlays, you can instantly switch a main clip into an overlay or flip it back right inside Edits with just a tap. This flexibility lets you layer video elements exactly how you want, whether it’s adding B-roll, highlighting reactions, or stacking visuals for a polished, cinematic feel.

ree

Save Sound Effects

Keep your favorite sounds close at hand. With Save Sound Effects, you can now store audio effects inside Edits and pull them up whenever you need them.

ree

Keyframes for Opacity

Smooth fades made simple. With Keyframes for Opacity, you can now control exactly how and when your clips or overlays fade in and out no clunky edits required.

TIP: Use gradual fade-ins for text or overlays when introducing a key point, then fade them out as the focus shifts.

ree

Detailed Export Progress

No more guessing how long your video will take to finish. With Detailed Export Progress, you get real-time, step-by-step visibility into your export status so you know exactly what’s happening and when your file will be ready.

ree

Keyframe Curves

Take your animations from basic to pro-level. With Keyframe Curves, you can adjust the speed of your keyframes, making movements start slow and speed up, or ease in smoothly instead of shifting abruptly.

ree

Snap to Edge

Get your layout just right. With Snap to Edge, you can easily align clips, overlays, or text to the edges of your frame. No more dragging and guessing if things are perfectly lined up.

TIP: Use Snap to Edge when adding captions or text overlays. Keeping them neatly aligned ensures your message looks intentional and polished instead of floating randomly on the screen.

ree

Safe Zones

Never lose your message to buttons or captions again. With Safe Zones, you can preview exactly where Instagram’s interface elements like captions, likes, and share buttons will appear on your Reel, so you know your text and visuals won’t get covered up.

ree

Swipe Between Reels on Insights Tab

Checking your analytics just got way easier. With Swipe Between Reels on the Insights tab, you can move quickly from one Reel’s data to the next without constantly backing out and reopening.
